The Department of Veterans Affairs Mobile Vet Center (MVC) will welcome area veterans in front of PBS39, located at 2501 East Coliseum Boulevard, Fort Wayne, on Thursday, September 21, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Guests enter PBS39 from Trier Road (click here to see Google Map, or click here for downloadable directional map).
Mobile Vet Centers are designed to extend the reach of Vet Center services through focused outreach, direct service provision, and referral to communities that do not meet the requirements for a “brick and mortar” Vet Center, but where there are Veterans, Servicemembers, and their families in need of services. In many instances these communities are distant from existing services and are considered rural or highly rural.
Each MVC includes confidential counseling space for direct service provision as well as laptop connectivity to VA Medical Center (VAMC) and Veteran Benefit Admin (VBA) systems. Vet Center staff collaborates with VA partners to create a single VA Footprint at events to ensure access to all available VA services and benefits.
PBS39 hosts the MVC as part of the station’s community service coinciding with the broadcast of Ken Burns’ The Vietnam War. The 10-part 18-hour documentary airs weeknights in September and encores weekly on Tuesdays beginning in October. More program information is available at PBS39 online -- wfwa.org -- and at pbs.org.
